Our Story

Cafe Hope was created in partnership with Hope Bilingual Academy in Nicaragua to provide financial assistance for the school. Most of the parents pay what they can for their children to attend the school, sometimes only a couple of dollars per month. The actual cost for a student to attend the academy for one year including all textbooks, uniforms, and meals is $200. Students of Hope Bilingual Academy receive a computer based, bilingual education thanks to sponsors and volunteers worldwide. The school has an average annual attendance of 45-60 students per year.

The school is run by Patricia, a Nicaraguan born, Texas raised mother of three. Patricia and her family moved from Texas to Nicaragua in 2002 and Hope Bilingual Academy was created in 2010. I first visited the school in 2017 and was blown away by what Patricia is able to accomplish with her limited resources. Tia Patricia, as she is often called by her students is well respected and appreciated in her community for providing an education for children who otherwise would not have that opportunity due to their financial hardships.

I have visited Hope Bilingual Academy many times since then and consider it a second home. When Cafe Hope was created, Patricia and the Hope Bilingual Academy family immediately got to work and planted about 4,500 coffee trees at the school. Sales from Cafe Hope help pay the salary for Hope Bilingual Academy teachers and farmers and we donate 10% of our profits to the school. Your purchase from Cafe Hope can help the school make a difference in rural Nicaragua. Please visit the school’s website for details about their mission and how you can help.
